Sažetak
Abstract–The paper presents a descriptive Matrix of function and functionality (MFF) that was created to improve the Morphological matrix. The main idea was to develop a matrix that uses mathematical laws to connect functions and function solutions. Therefore, rules are defined that uniquely describe functions by using a system of parameters. Functionalities represent technical systems, which lead to mutual relations with functions. Solutions of the required functions make sub-matrices that connect functions and functionalities. MFF represents a design tool used in the conceptual phase. This tool contributes to the unambiguous management of the design process. Functional requirements is possible to divide into categories, such as shape requirements, load requirements, kinematic requirements, maintenance requirements, etc. Since functions represent transformed requirements, the MFF is a tool that enables them to be solve in conceptual and product maintenance phase. In such a way, in the early phases of product lifecycle is possible by MFF, to set functional requirements for the exploration, maintenance and product recycling.
