Vibration analysis of Ro-Ro ship, Yard No. 531

Vibration analysis of Ro-Ro ship, Yard. No. 531, has been performed by the finite element method (FEM) upon request of ULJANIK d.d. (CLIENT). The existing full ship 3D FEM model, initially generated for the strength assessment, has been adapted for vibration analysis, based on the technical documentation provided by the CLIENT. Besides number of local reinforcements and some mesh modifications in the ship aft part, the finite element model of the main engine with top bracings is appended to ship structure FE model. Natural vibrations are determined by the Lanczos algorithm, while for the determination of harmonic forced response the mode superposition method is applied. Both engine and propeller induced vibrations are analysed and evaluated according to ISO 6954:2000 standard. Engine excitation is given by the engine manufacturer, while propeller vertical excitation force is calculated by the specialized in-house software.
