Young Human Capital Management: Croatian and Polish Case

Traineeship and internship programs are not identical concepts, but their contribution to participant’s knowledge and organisational intellectual capital is quite similar. Those programs provide effective learning and experience for students and young entrants in the labour market ensuring them application of theoretical knowledge and further knowledge, skills and competencies development. On the other hand, those concepts increase organisational competitiveness by bringing an opportunity to choose and create future loyal and committed employees. According to European Commission database (Flash Eurobarometer Report 378) one third of young people in European Union (18-35) had none of these experiences (traineeship, internship, apprenticeship or student job) and of those who had, around two thirds have not had a traineeship after the end of their studies. The aim of this paper is to investigate representation, frequency, conditions, duration and compensation in traineeship/internship process with particular emphasis on Croatia and Poland human capital. Secondary research point out the utility of traineeship and internship programs so nine in ten participants agree they had learned things that were useful professionally. Most of them believe that it helped them or it will help them in finding regular job.
