By becoming a member of the European Union, Croatia also became a part of the most competitive environment. Regulatory framework for doing business affects the economic and regulatory competitiveness of certain countries within and outside the European Union. The legal and administrative requirements, which individual states stipulate to start economic activities, proved to be crucial in deciding where entrepreneurs will start their business venture. Although many Member States already adapted their legislative frameworks to the requirements of entrepreneurs, simplifying the legislation and reducing the regulatory costs on the European level is necessary in order to achieve a clear, stable and predictable regulatory framework that will support economic growth and job creation. Important part of structural reform in Croatia is removing regulatory burdens for investments in global. In order to increase its competitiveness, for Croatia it is necessary to simplify the national legislation and to remove complicated and time-consuming administrative procedures and burdens to the benefit of businesses and public authorities. The main objective of this article is to examine the relationship between regulatory framework and competitiveness in European Union, with a special focus on Croatia and its last measures in the regulatory framework.
