The Influence of Weave and Shed Geometry on Tension and Deformation of Warp Threads
Deformations of cotton warp threads in weaving a fabric with trimming and in weaving striped fabrics when stripes are produced by a change in warp and weft effect of a weave are analyzed. Results obtained indicate that warp threads in trimming resp. in warp effect exhibits greater deformations than warp threads in weft effect. The threads with greater deformations in the fabric are mostly in the upper shed of weaving, as they have higher tension in weaving than those being in the lower shed, though they are drawn into rear heald frames having a lover lift than the front ones. The differences in warp thread deformatin seen in the samples with trimming (4-twill weave, tablecloth)and striped samples (5-sateen weave, bedding).
