Application of Foodomics for Food Toxins
Food safety remains a global concern and burden. Food regulatory institutions and control agencies work on updating public surveillance and reporting procedures. At the same time, laboratories of food safety authorities are facing with the biggest challenges so far because conventional methods for foodborne pathogens and biotoxins confirmation no longer provide suitable solutions. On the other hand, more sensitive, robust and accurate high- throughput technologies and methods gathered under the name foodmics, are developed by academia and institute research laboratories for foodborne pathogen and biotoxin detection. Especially such genomics, proteomics and metabolomics methods show the highest potential for further implementation in the foodborne outbreak prevention and food safety assessment.
