Digitalization and the new valorisations

In this chapter the author contends that digitalization represents an important technical underpinning of an ideology of neoliberalism and of related power relations that it stands for. In the digital era the technology has become a powerful determinant of social stratification directing a dicourse content. Hence, what is now taking place is all pervasive dematerialization of sources of wealth or power, and a key ingredient of these processes is information. Consequently, new forms of valorisation emerge from this new planetary order: The only things that exist are those ones that can be transferred into the binary code.
