Introduction to the Programme and Abstracts of the 2nd International Interdisciplinary Scientific Conference about Stakeholders' Profile in the Geodetic Sector „The Western Balkans Meets the EU: Ongoings inside Geospatial domain and Sustainable Development“
This conference is the fifth meeting in the continuity discussing stakeholders' profile in geodesy and geoinformatics organised by the Faculty of Geodesy, University of Zagreb as an activity connected to a scientific and teaching project „Stakeholders' Profile in the Geodesy and Geoinformatics“ run by professor Branka Mraović, Head of the Chair of Organizational Theory and Management. The conference is a follow up of a successful and well attended the 1st International Interdisciplinary Scientific Conference „The Global Environment, Stakeholders' Profile and Corporate Governance in Geodesy“ which was held from 3 till 5 October 2014 at the Faculty of Geodesy, University of Zagreb, Croatia. This year's conference will be focused on usage of geospatial information in corporate governance and strategic planning in the context of sustainable development. Although the sector of geodesy and geoinformatics accounts for only a small portion of national economy measured by a number of employees or a size of assets, its economic, geopolitical and geostrategic implications are comprehensive, all-pervasive and planetary. As some analysts have pointed out, geodesy and geoinformatics have a fundamental role to play in creating many reference datasets, and many organizations from a range of sectors will rely on its practices to create their own geospatial dana. The role of the networks of cities is decisive in these initiatives, representing an enormous challenge for the local governments all over the world. This conference aims to contribute to a development of sectoral analysis of the geospatial industry and to the better understanding of its operation in a complex global environment, characterized by a high level of interdependence and vunerability among regions. We want to bring together participants from the international community working in various fields of geodetic sector and related sectors – practitioners, scientists, businessmen, students. The conference promotes an accountable handling with business information in accordance with international and ethical standards of the European Union.
