Spalatensia Porphyrogenitiana. Notes on the poleogenesis and urban development of early medieval Split

In the focus of the article included in this volume are the cities mentioned by Constantine Porphyrogenitus in 'De Administrando Imperio', namely Split (Spalatum, Aspalathos). The author analyzes the details on the etymology of individual city names, descriptions of buildings, and various curiosities. The image of the city it offers is limited and superficial, incorporated into a broader picture with political intention.

Split ; Early Middle Ages ; poleogenesis ; sources ; Constantine Porphyrogenitus
