Importance of the Club of Treated Alcoholics

The Alcoholics Club is a multi-family community founded on the principle of self-help and mutual help of members who are in permanent losing their lifestyle and growing and maturing their members. In 1964, when the first club of treated alcoholics in Zagreb was established, the number of clubs progressively growing, reaching the maximum before the Homeland War in Croatia in 1990, which for objective reasons disables the activities of many clubs in the war-affected areas. At the end of the war, the activities of the clubs are renewed, and today the clubs of treated alcoholics represent the fundamental and indispensable form of tertiary prevention of alcohol dependence, integrated into the comprehensive prevention and treatment program of alcohol-induced disorders.
