The evaluation of treatment of alcoholics in weekend hospital after two years
The weekend hospital, as a unique form of partial hospital treatment, is a family-run multi-month treatment program, conducted for more than ten years at the Psychiatric Clinic, KB "Sestre Milosrdnica" in Zagreb. Examining the success and results of this program, the authors conducted a study that covered all patients who started treatment in 1995, or two years after the treatment. General characteristics (age, gender, marital status, number of children, occupation) and indicators of progress in treatment and rehabilitation were investigated, such as improving the health status, family relationships and workplace conditions. As the most important treatment outcome, the length of abstinence was taken. The obtained data and results are very good compared to the results in other programs, and this form of treatment can be recommended for patients who wish to be treated with the work.
