Molecular characterization and expression analysis of pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-1β, TNFα1 and TNFα2 in cage-reared Atlantic bluefin tuna Thunnus thynnus (L. 1758)

Atlantic bluefin tuna Thunnus thynnus is one of the largest migratory fish species with great economic significance for Croatian industry. The first full-length mRNA and gDNA sequences of T. thynnus cytokines IL-1β, TNFα1 and TNFα2 were cloned and characterized within this study. The expression analysis of three cytokines was performed in selected tissues of fish reared over the period of two years ; in peripheral blood leukocytes stimulated in vitro with LPS, Poly I:C and parasite protein extract ; and in gill tissue during natural parasite infection.
