Building and reconstructing public monuments for tourist photography. Two case studies from Dalmatian cities under the protection of UNESCO
Using the examples of two almost opposite case studies, this paper has several goals: to explain how the need to build and reconstruct monuments is justified by the purposes of the tourist offer ; to explain the procedural models of the competent city departments and national authorities in the decision-making processes related to public monuments ; and to explain their relationship towards the members of the interested professional, academic and cultural public who have shown interest in the issue at hand. Finally, the selected case studies are examined through the prism of conservation theory.
