Organizational Culture in Croatian Hospitality Industry

Organizational culture is the whole of attitudes, values, norms, beliefs and views shared by the majority of employees within a company. Organizational culture has an impact on the company's organization, the type of its organizational structure, degree of centralization and leadership style. Organizational culture as a part of the organizational system make san important basis and prerequisite for the successful performance of a hotel. In the paper, authors want to explore particularities of the organizational culture in the Croatian hospitality industry. The objects of the research are Croatian hotels with the emphasis on stock companies in tourist destinations. The goal of the paper is to specify and investigate the characteristics of the organizational culture in Croatian hotels. Also, the purpose of the paper is to prove the importance of organizational culture and its contribution to the competitiveness of Croatian hotels. Results are obtained using qualitative and quantitative methods with the emphasis on multiple correlations. Research findings indicate that the most effective way for motivating the seasonal work force in hospitality industry is to increase salaries. Since there has not been many systematic research of organizational culture in Croatian hospitality industry, this paper opens enough space for further theoretical and applicative improvement.
