Importance of Ferredoxin NADP+ Oxidoreductase in alternative electron pathways
Ferredoxin NADP+ oxidoreductase (FNR) catalyses reversible reaction of electron transfer from ferredoxin to NADP+ as the last step of linear electron flow during photosynthesis. FNR is presented as a soluble protein in stroma but also bound to the protein complexes-thylakoid rhodanase-like protein (TROL) and translocon on the inner envelope chloroplast membrane (Tic62). It is envisaged that Fd efficiently passes electrons to alternative pathways when FNR is not sequestered to the TROL. FNR protein is shown to be involved in oxidative stress response.
