Sažetak
The topic of this article is the role of the exhibition Exposition Internationale des Arts décoratifs et industriels modernes, held in Paris in 1925, in the propagation of the modernist paradigm, used as an example to elucidate the French influence on cultural production, namely, architecture. Its specific forms are discussed within a historical, cultural and aesthetic context and analysed as the foundation of representational models of affirming ideas and concepts of modernism and national identity. The impact of the 1925 Paris Exhibition on the emergence of alternative narratives is reflected in the deconstruction of the hitherto dominant concept of modernism upheld by large international exhibitions, with the concept based on new technology, mass industrialization, progress, consumption and the democratization of society gaining prominence.
