Psychological and socio-economic factors shaping quality of life and intention for emigration of young professionals.

This research examines psychological and socio- economic factors which shaping intention and motivation for emigration from region or from country of highly educated young people. Those factors were explored in relation to perceived personal and national quality of life, sources of satisfaction and sources of un-satisfaction with life in Croatia. In past years, Croatia, facing a fast growing trend of emigration of young, university educated people, especially from eastern region to other regions within Croatia, and mostly abroad. Migration has long been a mechanism for those in search of better and a good life. Although financial issues were recognised as an important factor for decision, psychological and social factors significantly shaping intention and motivation for emigration and should be explored more carefully. University in Osijek as a leading education authority in eastern Croatia provide education for large number of students providing future experts to work and improve future regional and national economy. Identifying the specific factors and relationship of unsatisfaction as well as satisfaction with life connected with the emigration intention will contribute to understanding of this important issue, and in future regional initiative for improving quality of life of specific population groups.
