Comparison of irrigation system sized by innovative method CPM with the traditional irrigation system
Using the irrigation systems driven by solar photovoltaic (PV) energy fits into the concept of sustainable development, which is nowadays very actual. Usually, such systems consist of a PV generator and inverter, pump station, water reservoir, pipelines and all required equipment. Innovative method for sizing of such systems, named “Critical Period Method” (CPM), is different from the common methods, because instead of a single critical period, which relates to the maximum daily water consumption, this method considers three critical periods due to the different balancing days (periods). These are critical period for sizing subsystem “PV”, subsystem “pumping station” and subsystem “water reservoir”. This paper will be based on economic comparison of irrigation system sized by using CPM with the traditional irrigation system.
