The Acoustic Characteristics of Zagreb Theater „Komedija“
The theaters are acoustically special and demanding spaces where all the conditions for the values of the acoustic quality parameters have to be met. Spatially, the theater can be roughly divided on the audience space and the stage space. It is very important that all voice and other information from the stage are properly transmitted to the audience. Equally important is that all the information can be transmitted and received in a good way between the performers on the stage. All requirements have to be met no matter where a performer, which is in this case a source of information, is placed on the stage, or is moving on the stage. Also, satisfactory conditions for listening must be achieved on the whole audience area (ground floor or balcony or loggia in the theater). In this paper, the acoustic characteristics of the Zagreb Theater “Komedija” are shown. All results were obtained by measuring process carried out in accordance with the standard ISO3382. After the measurement, the analysis of the values of the important acoustic quality parameters, such as reverberation time, clarity and speech intelligibility, was made for different places in the audience and on the stage. During the measurement and analysis process, the fact that the theater space is architecturally, and even acoustically, completely symmetrical was taken into account. As a result, all measurements and analyzes were carried out only for one (right) half of the theater space.
