Distribution of macrophytes along the Krka River
First systematic study of macrophytes in the Krka River has been performed in 1989, while further macrophyte studies continued until recent times. Here we present combined results of previous authors and our own results of macrophytes in the Krka River. Presented data are the results of a larger flora survey in the Krka National Park in a period of nearly one decade (2007-2016). During that period macrophytes were regularly studied from the river banks, as well as from the boat. They were analyzed along the 72.5 km of Krka River (Northern Dalmatia), divided in total of 45 MTB 1/64 fields, where 526 MTB field-related records of 75 plant taxa were aggregated. Among 28 recorded hydrophytes, Nuphar lutea Sibth. et Sm., Potamogeton perfoliatus L. and Nymphaea alba L. were the most common, while the most frequent helophytes were Phragmites australis (Cav.) Trin. ex Steud., Scirpus lacustris L., Lythrum salicaria L. and Cladium mariscus (L.) Pohl. Due to its inaccessibility, the upper segments of the Krka River water flow are still insufficiently floristically studied.
