Prediction of steel properties during controlled cooling of hot rolled steel
Numerical model of prediction of steel properties during controlled cooling in production of hot rolled steel was developed. By numerical model of controlled cooling is possible to predict a transient temperature field, microstructure evolution and hardness of round and rectangular steel bars during them cooling in cooling beds. The numerical model of transient temperature field is based on control volume method. The algorithm for prediction of distribution of hardness and microstructure in steel bars is based on CCT-diagrams and real chemical composition. The controlled cooling is performed by special placement of hot rolled bars on cooling beds. Numerical model was applied in computer simulation of controlled cooling of low- alloyed steel bars. Based on achieved results it can be concluded that by developed computer software is possible to predict the microstructure and hardness distribution of steel during controlled cooling in cooling beds.
