Development of environmental awareness and ecological behaviour in community trought creative pedagogical work with pupils
The paper describes the importance of the creative educational work with pupils in the classroom and outside the classroom that contributes to the ecological and pedagogical interest development of pupils for the preservation and improvement of the environmental quality in the community. We have witnessed how the environmental crisis of the modern world raises many questions, one of which is how to educate generations to come that will be responsible to their environment. It is important to examine how to raise a generation that will maintain the existing situation or summon the knowledge and power to correct some omissions and return disturbed harmony to the nature. School has recognized an important role in environmental education of pupils and determined the location of the entire educational process. School needs activities that contribute to the development of environmental awareness of pupils through the implementation of various creative eco-educational workshops such as composting, environmental campaigns, water saving - "Journey of a drop of water", waste disposal - "Waste is not garbage" and energy-saving -"Through energy-saving we worth more", „Planting the trees- lungs of the city”, recycling, etc. The implementation of environmental programs is carried out through regular classes and extra-curricular activities (field work-school in nature) and includes education through various workshops and practical work of pupils which affects the water and energy preservation and waste disposal and segregation. The world in which we live requires pupils to start thinking about it very early. The amount of knowledge or information which the individual pupils should be provided has significantly increased over the past one hundred years, but also the availability of information is much greater than before. Pupils should be point out that the whole universe is a network of interconnected processes so that every human action has a reaction in the universe. However, with the completion of education the process of education does not end. The man's whole life should be focused on acquiring new knowledge and changing behaviour in the desired direction. The process of education for environmental protection requires a number of factors. We need to develop new environmental competences in teachers in the implementation of “green education“. Everyone who actively participates in community life, as well as lone individuals, is potential actor in the process of education to environmental protection.
