The Croatian Web Dictionary Project – Mrežnik

Croatia is still one of the countries which do not have a publically available online corpus-based dictionary of their national language compiled according to the rules of contemporary e-lexicography nor systematic research on e-lexicography. This is the reason for launching the project Croatian Web Dictionary Mrežnik. The Croatian Science Foundation accepted this project for financing. The project started on the 1st of March and the duration of the project is 4 years. The result of the MREŽNIK (Croatian Web Dictionary) project will be a free, monolingual, hypertext, easily searchable, online dictionary of Croatian standard language. This dictionary has three different modules: a dictionary for adult native speakers of Croatian, a dictionary for elementary school children and a dictionary for foreigners. As we are still in the first half of the first year in the paper we will present the dictionary grammar and style manual for three different modules as well as connected databases and computer tools. Some of the connected databases have already been compiled while others will be compiled at the same time with the dictionary.
