Gut Colonization by Multidrug-Resistant Gram- Negative Bacteria Is an Independent Risk Factor for Development of Intestinal Acute Graft- versus-Host Disease

Gut decontamination in allogeneic stem cell transplantation seems to lead to the loss of natural microbiota diversity and the overgrowth of opportunistic pathogens with emerging multidrug resistance. According to our results, these multidrug resistant pathogens have an important role in the development of acute intestinal graft-versus- host disease, which is the most important complication of transplantation.
