What does INIS mean to Croatia
The IAEA (Vienna, Austria) in collaboration with participating countries and international organizations established 1970 the International Nuclear Information System (INIS) as an international bibliographic database. This System started very successfully and grown into one of the biggest science and technological information systems in the world. Since its inception, INIS has emphasized decentralized information management, facilitated by the most current information expertise and information technology. The philosophy of a co-operative system, as INIS was established, suggests that all participating Members make some contribution to creation and operation of the system. Herein lies the strength of the INIS. During Membership from 1994 Croatia was following successfully this kind of philosophy knowing that without continuous engagement of all system participants INIS could not act in such way. With all activities in development and improvement of INIS utilization Croatia shows that knows what does INIS mean worldwide.
