Microgrid interfacing power electronics control algorithms for batteries, ultracapacitors and flywheel
This report presents the development and simulation and experimental verification of control systems for interfacing power electronics (power converters) in microgrids, which are suitable for utilization with battery, ultracapacitor and flywheel energy storage systems. The proposed power electronics control systems are designed by utilizing a bottom-up approach, wherein the innermost (lowest-level) control loop is designed first, followed by successive designing of higher-level (superimposed) control loops. The controller tuning is generally aimed at achieving fast and well-damped response of each successive control loop, while also striving to provide favorable robustness features.
