PUPIL SELF-ASSESSMENT−ITS ROLE AND USE FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF TEACHERS, PUPILS AND PRE-SERVICE TEACHERS
For years teachers have used the traditional assessment tools such as multiple-choice questions, true-false statements, and cloze- tests. However, although accepted, they are not the best tool for pupil assessment. Pupils differ, they have different learning styles and some alternative assessment tools may be more suitable for them. Self-assessment is an alternative assessment method where pupils assess their own work and progress. Self-assessment promotes monitoring one´s own progress, reflecting on one´s own learning styles, abilities and setting personal goals. The goal of this study is to get an insight into the usefulness and the role of pupil self-assessment in primary schools from the perspectives of teachers, pupils and pre-service teachers.
