Obstacles to the preservation of native breeds and the development of gene bank

Croatian original and protected breeds of domestic animals represent a national genetic wealth for that care about their preservation and improvement of the water for almost three decades. The conservation programs invested a large professional work and the allocation of funds through government funding. As an important step in the preservation of indigenous and protected breed is the foundation of the Bank of domestic animal genes the Croatian (BAG RH) within the Croatian Agricultural Agency (CAA). The aim is to identify the barriers that hinder successful implementation of the program for conservation of indigenous and protected breeds of domestic animals and to prevent the development of more intense gene banks of domestic animals.
