Zanimljivosti iz matičnih knjiga grada Pule u novom vijeku / Curiosities from the Registers of Baptisms, Marriages and Deaths of the City of Pula in the Modern Period
Detaljni podaci o imenima i prezimenima starosjeditelja i doseljenika, o njihovoj provenijenciji, društvenim slojevima i zanimanjima, , višestrukim brakovima, nezakonitoj djeci, krštenju u kući, bolestima, duljini života, neobičnim okolnostima smrti, vrstama brakova, kasnim porođajima itd. − nedvojbeno pridonose boljem poznavanju gradskoga života i s drukčijeg aspekta osvjetljavaju povijest Pule i Puljštine. On the example posed by the analysis of registers of baptisms, marriages and deaths of the Parish of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Pula (1613-1817), the author describes their main features and numerous specifics. Said registers are not particularly old: the registers of baptized and married people began to be compiled from 1613, deaths were recorded from 1625, while confirmations from 1626. Detailed information regarding names and surnames of the autochthonous population, their provenance, social classes and occupations, multiple marriages, illegitimate children, baptisms performed at home, illnesses, life span, unusual circumstances of death, types of marriages, late deliveries, etc. - undoubtedly contribute to a better understanding of urban life and at the same time shed light onto the history of Pula and its surrounding territory.
