The Understanding of Professional and Legal Terms in Physical Planning - Better Protection of Cultural Heritage
The World is facing a strong process of privatization, accompanied by changes in economic and spatial development. In addition, there is a threat from the globalized and English oriented environment where the Acts and Regulations are translated into English and vv using the web-nested translation utilities. As an effort to keep Place Identity (cultural heritage) values through planning process, Croatian and other neighboring countries planning legislation terms (broadened by landscape and environment as an inseparable part) need a clear and unambiguous translation of all terms that have arisen from the adoption of the Venice and other International Charters. In most cases these terms and defi nitions are not harmonized on national, nor international level. This paper will try to focus on proposing the accurate legal and professional translation opposed to lingual and “professional translation” of terms which are used in everyday practice.
