16th International Conference on New Trends in Fatigue and Fracture - Book of Abstracts

NT2F16 continued the tradition of very successful NT2F conference series established in 2001. Since then the conference was held every year and it is one of the major conferences in the field of fatigue, fracture and structural integrity and reliability, an area of utmost scientific and technological importance. The NT2F16 conference managed to bring together scientists and engineers from about 40 countries from around the world to discuss how to characterize, analyse, predict and asses the fatigue and fracture of structural materials and components. The NT2F16 was a forum for discussion of the present and future trends in experimental, analytical and numerical fracture mechanics, fatigue, structural integrity assessment, failure analysis, and other important topics in the field. The delegates of the NT2F16 conference had the opportunity to interact and exchange ideas with leading researchers across a wide range of disciplines, and get acquainted with the state of the art in the theory and applications of fatigue and fracture mechanics. The NT2F16 conference further promoted cooperation among scientists and experts from university, industry and government involved in the field of the fatigue and fracture of materials and structures. A two-day School on fatigue and fracture modelling and analysis was organized prior to the Conference, along with round table discussions on several topics, including how to teach fracture mechanics in the future and how to promote cooperation between universities and industry. I take this opportunity to thank to all participants of the NT2F16 conference for their contribution and many high-quality papers. I am very much indebted to the Scientific Committee Members for their invaluable help, suggestions and advice in the Conference organization and particularly for their support within the peer- review process. The Conference has been supported by a number of distinguished international and Croatian institutions and I wish to thank them all. I would like to thank to all my colleagues and all persons who have been involved in the organization of the NT2F16 conference in various ways. Particularly, I wish to thank to the Organizing Committee Members for their great effort, support and commitment.
