Fostering creativity in students enrolled in teaching studies as an important determinant in the higher education

The creativity is an important asset in the modern world. It is essential for the students enrolled in teaching studies to acknowledge the importance of creativity and to show willingness to organize their future work in a way that fosters creativity. The aim of this paper was to investigate into the ways creativity is being fostered at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Split, and to what extent were the students willing to instigate creativity in their future work as teachers, both inter and intragenerationally. The research encomprised the total of 226 students, the first year teacher graduates and graduates of pedagogy, and fourth year students in integrated undergraduate and graduate primary teachers studies in 2013/2014 and in 2016/2017. The data showed some differences in the presence of creativity and its conducting in teaching among different departments of study. At the department of pedagogy the students' creative activity is being encouraged to a greater degree than on others and is less restricted. Pedagogy students and students of primary teachers studies are more willing to foster creativity in their future work than other teacher graduates. There weren't registered any dissimilarities between the three groups on the scale of restricting the creativity encomprised in the study, since it marked rather low levels. The creativity is being fostered to a greater and restricted to a lesser degree in the students in 2016/2017 than among those in 2013/2014. Intergenerationally, no greater differences were registered in willingness in fostering and restricting the creativity.
