Evaluating the effectiveness of disinfection with gaseous chlorine in the water supply system using a model
The pure potable water supply and the corresponding sanitation are fundamental for the protection of the public health. The presence and control of total bacterial count in water systems (WS) is a global issue that warrants proper water disinfection which minimize exposure especially to pathogenic microorganisms. Occurrence of turbidity in karst springs is common phenomenon during periods of heavy rainfalls, especially after long dry periods usually followed by increased short-term bacteriological contamination. Increased water turbidity is not considered as a direct risk to human health ; however, particles that make up turbidity can provide a good base for the growth of microorganisms thus reducing the efficiency of water disinfection.
