ULTRASOUND VELOCITY MEASUREMENT OF CALIBRATION BLOCK NO.1 IN ACCORDANCE TO THE STANDARD HRN EN ISO 2400

In this paper we comment requirements for calibration blocks in accordance to the standards HRN EN ISO 2400 (Specification for calibration block No. 1), HRN EN ISO 7963 (Specification for calibration block No. 2) and HRN EN ISO 16946 (Specification for step wedge calibration block). By comparing the requirements given by these standards it is obvious that some important reference values for calibration blocks are similar while some specifications are not technically uniform. With the scope to verify the ultrasound velocity in accordance to the requirements of standards HRN EN ISO 2400 the time of flight of a short ultrasound pulse is measured on two different calibration blocks V1. Measurement results confirmed that the ultrasound velocity are within a tolerance of 0, 2 % (±12 m/s) for compressional waves. Furthermore, there is not significant difference between measurement spots but there is between calibration blocks.
