Culture of Bordetella pertussis from three upper respiratory tract specimens

There are number of factors that contribute to the difficulty isolating Bortadella pertussis. These factors include specimen choice, swab material, collection, transport, prior therapy and culture techniques. The aim of this study was to analyze the isolation rate of B.pertussis from various upper respiratory tract specimens in patients with paroxysmal cough, treated at University Hospital of Infectious Diseases, Zagreb, Croatia.
