WHAT DRIVES CROATIAN REGIONAL EXPORT?
Export performance is a key element in establishing regional competitiveness. In line with recent empirical research which stress the importance of domestic factors, this paper investigates potential factors that could influence Croatian regional export dynamics for the period from 2004 to 2014. The results of the estimated panel models point to the strategic importance of strengthening manufacturing, especially in the coastal regions. On the other hand, weak domestic demand as well as high labour costs, limited wage flexibility and demographics present the main obstacles in improving export performance.
