The Impact of Cultural Institutions on an Awareness About Culture and History of the City of Osijek

This diploma thesis deals with the analysis of the cultural institution influence on the cultural development of the city as well as the history of the City, while it also presents some of the locations that are its worthwhile cultural patrimony. Three institutions presented in this diploma thesis are City and University library of Osijek, State Archive in Tvrđa and Museum of Slavonia. All together, they should have the influence on the city's culture development, so this thesis presents them all, as well as interviews with their principals. This interview put into question whether the institutions can hold onto that task, mainly financially. Diploma thesis also discusses an important topic, it being young people awareness about the city’s culture. Anonymous poll has been made, and it asked the question such as the knowledge about the town’s history or how often do the voters visit aforementioned cultural institutions. As a conclusion, this thesis brings the comparison of results, with a purpose of comprehending a level of influence the cultural institutions have on Osijek’s culture and history.
