Effect of chirality on conformational properties of ferrocene peptides: synthesis, X- ray crystal structure and DFT study
Reverse turns are structural features of proteins and peptides in which a polypeptide chain changes its direction enabling a protein to fold back on itself.[1] Besides the role in protein folding, turns are involved in molecular recognition processes.[1, 2] Ferrocene-1, 1'-diamine was established as molecular template for the design of turns in symmetricaly disubstituted derivatives.[3] Herein we report the DFT-predicted effect of the backbone chirality on the solid-state conformational properties of orthogonally protected asymmetric peptides containing homo- (1) and heterochiral (2) amino acids. Also, the crystal structure of the conjugate 1 is determined
