RESCUR: A Resilience Curriculum for Early Years and Primary Schools- Curriculum Activities in Croatia

RESCUR: A Resilience Curriculum for Early Years and Elementary Schools in Europe is a result of the three year (2012-2015) LLP Comenius project. It has been coordinated by the University of Malta (Malta) with the participation of the University of Zagreb (Croatia), the University of Crete (Greece), University of Pavia (Italy), the University of Lisbon (Portugal), and Orebro University (Sweden). Professionals from six countries joined together with the main goal: to improve children’s social and emotional learning, resilience skills, academic engagement, motivation and learning. Curriculum consists of six major themes: developing communication skills, establishing and maintaining healthy relationships, developing a growth mindset, developing self determination, developing one’s strengths in learning and social activities, and overcoming and dealing with challenges and obstacles, such as bullying, loss, failure and rejection. The programme consists of five manuals: Teachers’ Guide Early Years (4-5 years) Early Primary School Years (6-8 years) Late Primary School Years (9-11 years) Parents’ Guide (Early Years-Primary School) Some Croatian preschool institutions have started with the application of Early Years curriculum in 2015. It has been in progress – curriculum activities in kindergartens will be presented.
