The Correlation in the Teaching of the Mother Tongue

The correlation in teaching implies linking the educational process in a harmonious whole. The fundamental purpose of connecting various educational fields is to acquire knowledge, but also to gain a comprehensive view of the scientific or artistic branch in teaching. By utilizing such an approach teachers avoid formalism and enumeration of facts in teaching, instead promoting the functionality of learning and their focus on students. The focus of this paper is the notion of correlation in the contemporary moter tongue lessons. The author theoretically considers fundamental starting points as well as the functionality of this teaching methods. According to the principle of inter-subject correlation the goals of the Croatian language teaching are functionally realized within the linguistic-artistic area.
