Case study in Croatian administrative science: towards a common research model?

Studies on public administration often rely on empirical researches based on various methodological approaches and methods. The aim of the paper is to determine the representation of case studies from the field of administrative science in selected Croatian journals and doctoral dissertations, and to determine if there a common case study research model exists. The author starts from the assumption that in the circumstances where accessibility to public administration organisations is sometimes limited and due to other conveniences, case studies are found as an appropriate and legitimate research approach. This could lead to insufficient attention dedicated to methodology used, various shortcomings in the conduction of empirical research and consequently questionable relevance of the scientific contribution of such papers to public administration field. Therefore, a common research model for case study analyses could contribute to quality improvement of future case study researches in the field. The paper is organized into five parts. After the introduction, literature review on case study as methodological approach will be provided and theoretical framework constructed. It will be followed by the part on methodology applied (selection of journals, issues and articles for the analysis), and presentation and discussion of the results. Main conclusions of the research will be provided in the final part of the paper.
