System for measurement and analysis of EEG and ECG signals recorded during music stimulation
The purpose of this research is to experiment the music influence on the activity of the human brain and heart. As a music stimuli will be used Piano medicine®, music that should lead to relaxed state and created with carefully chosen parameters. Furthermore, the correlation between the human brain and heart’s activity will be experimented. Three hypotheses are defined. The first two are related to the specific music used. According to them, Piano medicine® should initiate increased generation of alpha (and potentially delta and gamma) brain waves and decreased heart rate. The third hypothesis proposes existence of correlation between the human heart and brain’s activity. For checking the validity of the hypotheses, an experimental paradigm is defined according to which ten measurements of EEG and ECG were conducted using the © BrainVision. For processing and analyzing the recorded signals, five scripts in Matlab® were written and used.
