Magnetic properties of monometallic and bimetallic MOF-74 compounds studied by high-field ESR spectroscopy
Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) have attracted considerable interest due to their promising properties for applications as gas-storage systems, sensors, and catalysts[1] but also because of their magnetic properties.[2] Recently, a mechanochemical approach for highly efficient synthesis of MOF-74 have been developed.[3] Here we present investigation of magnetic properties of Cu- and Co-MOF-74 materials, but also of new bimetallic CuZn-, ZnCo- and CuCo-MOF-74 prepared by milling, as well as intermediate compounds that occured during synthesis, by electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopy. Frequency dependent (up to 327 GHz) high field (up to 16 T) ESR (HF-ESR) measurements of the investigated compounds are presented. Using the results obtained from X-band ESR and magnetization measurements, the magnetic properties of the compounds are discussed. [1] T. Yamada et al., Chem. Soc. Rev. 42 (2013) 6569. [2] P.
