The most important plant diseases on forest trees in the coastal region of Croatia
This paper surveys the most important plant diseases on forest trees in the Croatian maritime- dalmatian belt, from Istria to Dubrovnik. It is the result of many years of monitoring and investigation of the state of health of coastal forests. The investigations showed a growing incidence of severe attacks of plant disease. Sphaeropsis sapinea, Dotihistroma pini, Cenangium ferruginosum, Cryphonectria parasitica, Phellinus pini a endangering particular trees, groups or larger forest complexis.The paper deals with pine diseases which occur in this region, indicating that the Ausrtian pine is the most endangered. Special attention has been paid to diseases on the cypress, and the problem of sweet chestnut blight in the northern Primorje and Istria has been presented in more detail.
