Determination of important radionuclides in soil samples from the Island of Mljet, Croatia
Radiochemical analysis of soils samples collected from the locations in the National Park Mljet (the north-west part of the Island of Mljet, Croatia) have been performed in this study using beta, alpha and gamma spectrometric measurements. The research included determination of the 90Sr, alpha emitters (241Am, 238Pu, 239, 240Pu) and anthropogenic gamma emitters. Results show presence of the important anthropogenic radioisotopes in the collected soil samples, most probably as a result of nuclear bombs testing in the atmosphere in the 60s (Sahara desert) and the Chernobyl accident.
