TOTAL PLASMA N-GLYCOME IN ALLERGEN SENSITIZED CHILDREN
Total plasma N-glycome (TPNG) is known to change with respect to a disrupted homeostasis and different diseases involving systemic inflammation, but its content has never been systematically analysed in allergic diseases. The aim of this study was to analyse TPNG in allergen-sensitized children and evaluate its potential as an early biomarker for sensitization state. Total plasma N-glycans from 283 10-year-old children of both sexes (101 sensitized to dog, cat, timothy grass, egg, peanut and/or house dust mite ; 182 non- sensitized) were released by PNGase F following protein denaturation by sodium dodecyl sulfate. The released N glycans were labeled with 2 aminobenzamide and analyzed by hydrophilic interaction ultraperformance liquid chromatography (UPLC). First results indicate there is no difference in TPNG in allergen- sensitized vs. non-sensitized children.
