Enhancing the quality of children’s lives remains a national and international priority in 2017. Improving early childhood education was, is and continues to be an important subject in institutions of higher education. Upbringing is fundamental to development and socialisation during the early stages of childhood. Socialisation refers especially to the social dimension of human development. During the socialisation process, children learn how to act in and respond to society. In regard to educational perspectives, many questions can be discussed, some of which are reflected in this monography entitled: Contributions to the Development of the Contemporary Paradigm of the Institutional Childhood: an Educational Perspective. This publication presents 32 contributions from nine different countries: Belgium, Croatia, Latvia, Norway, Poland, Serbia, Slovenia, Switzerland and the USA. The contributions are diverse with authors contemplating questions regarding school education, didactics, art education and musical education. Other contributions are based on linguistic, sociological or comparative aspects. Nevertheless, the contributions also share a common base: They are all linked to the development of the contemporary paradigm of institutional childhood. The individual contributions are not arranged alphabetically by topic, but by author ; first the contributions in English, then those in German. The authors are responsible for the quality of the individual contributions. We hope this monography will catch your interest inside and outside of higher education institutions.
