International interlending of research libraries in Yugoslavia
The system of interlibrary loans in Yugoslavia in general is described. Besides the federal rules each constituent republic has its own regulations which are the basis for agreements with other republics. In the last decade the advancement and improvement of the communications technology in the library sector and online access to information resulted in demand for new methods of document supply in Yugoslavia. Lately within the framework of the new developing System of Scientific and tehnological information some of the connected libraries started using electronic mail for interlending purposes within the country. To get insight into the present state of the art a questionnaire was sent to all republics with the purpose of collecting the data referring go the year 1989 on the volume of international lending, the most important foreign supplier countries, ratio between books and ordered photocopies, methods of request and supply, users of international lending and document supply services and financial and other problems and constraints.
