Possibilities of application of test results in programming top athletes training

Compiling and analyzing the information about anthropometric and biomechanical characteristics, as well as functional and motorical abilities of basketball players is very important element when deciding about the plan and programme of training, for individual athletes and for sports teams as wll. Testing of several anthropological characteristics of the member of the Yugoslav national basketball team has been carried out during their conditioning for the trials for the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988. The authors have presented the co-operation between a scientific institution and a coach staff in applying the achieved results of planning and programming the training, in order to correct and improve characteristics and abilities of those players who might strongly influence the efficiency of play at a match.
