Social Cognitive Model of Career Choices for Sustainability
In the proposed paper we are using Lent, Brown and Hackett’s (1993) social cognitive model of career choices in predicting adolescents’ vocational interest and career goals in the domain of sustainability. Following a traditional three-dimensional approach to sustainable development we devised three models in order to predict interests and goals for pursuing careers which might lead to enhancement of social, environmental and economic sustainability. Learning experiences, self-efficacy beliefs and outcome expectations correlated with interest and goals in the expected direction for all three models. The results provide strong support for the application of social cognitive model in career guidance in the domain of social, environmental and economic sustainability.
